”How Did We Get” Video Series

Dr. Sarah Ruble’s video and discussion series “How Did We Get” was shown during October - December, 2023, but you can view them anytime!  Click here to visit the series page with video links and study guide resources. The topics include: How did we get the doctrine of the Trinity?; How did we get the doctrine that Jesus was fully human and fully God?; How did we get a church separate from Judaism?; How did we get the doctrine of original sin?; How did we get the doctrine of justification by faith?; and How did we get to theological liberals and conservatives? The topics are fascinating and encompass questions we’ve all likely pondered.  Dr. Ruble has an engaging teaching style, and her series “Race and Christianity in the United States” was well received.

Bible Study, Tuesdays at 2 PM via Zoom

This fall our Bible Study will begin with the book of Lamentations, a poetic lament written to mourn the destruction of Jerusalem during Israel’s exile in Babylon in the 6th century B.C. Each week we read one chapter and together we discuss its meaning on four levels- the literal and historical, the connections to other parts of scripture, the moral meaning for our present, and the spiritual meaning of the text. All are welcome to join us and you can drop in any Tuesday- no need for perfect attendance. Bible study will resume on Tuesday, September 10 at 2 PM via Zoom and continue every Tuesday.
